Having pets does not mean you have to miss out on going to events or going on holiday. The thought of leaving your pets in someone else's care- especially for the first time is understandably nerve-wrecking. But it doesn't have to be!
To give you peace of mind I am the holder of a clear enhanced DBS check, insured with PetPlan Sanctuary and certified in pet first aid.
Pets benefit from being in their own surroundings when big changes are made to their routine. Having a pet sitter ensures the changes to your pets day to day life are limited.
Check out the reviews tab to see what previous previous pet sitting customers have to say. I have linked my google business page which means you have access to EVERY review left for Step Pets.
You will receive daily updates, pictures and videos- you can also call any time to check in. You are not expected to respond to updates while you are away- but they are provided so that you can be at ease knowing your pets are happy and well looked after.
Having a pet sitter in your home means your pet has their undivided attention. If your pet has special requirements such as physical health needs you can be sure your instructions will be followed to the letter.
Every potential customer is entitled to a free 1 hour meet and greet service. I also encourage booking 1 or 2 short visits prior to using the service for overnights to ensure you and your pets are comfortable.
You will also be given a detailed form to fill out about your pets needs and care instructions.
It is a requirement to have a council granted license for someone to take your dog and board them in their own home. If you are considering sending your dog to someone which is known as "home boarding" rather than using a pet-sitter please ensure they provide you with their license number.
Ideal for toilet breaks, enclosure cleans, water and food changes, litter tray cleans etc. Most commonly booked for small animals
Ideal for the services mentioned above and for animals that would enjoy some time for cuddles

With the detailed information- I am comfortable to look after pets including reptiles (pets at home experience), small animals, cats, dogs and some farm animals.
Sadly not. As much as I would love to be able to provide that level of time to your pets- I have regular walking clients. My most common booking combination for holiday pet sitting is the full package of care repeated for as many days as you need. This means your dog will be alone for approx 4 hrs twice a day. This aims to mimic an average working pattern. For weekends however there is much more availability.
Yes! If your dog enjoys the company of others and is used to enjoying sharing a bed then they are welcome to continue to do so.
Yes! The main benefit of pet-sitting is to disrupt your dogs routine as little as possible. If your dog benefits from sleeping in their safe-space then I will follow your instructions to continue their regular routine.
I recommend having a key ready for your last booked visit before you require the service. I can also drop the key off directly to you or leave it where you request.
If you have a lockbox you can provide the code. If this feels daunting- you can temporarily change your code if you'd like to keep your usual code private.
I am able to support in giving prescribed medication. I have years of experience in administering medication in a professional setting with humans and with animals when working in pets at home and as part of Step Pets care.
I do not have any advertising on my vehicle at customers houses for this reason. With dog thefts being uncomfortably common I am very careful to ensure not to make it clear people are away. My social media posts do not share locations and I ensure to blur out information in pictures such as road names or collar tags.
Sadly pets can get ill despite humans best efforts to keep them safe and well. You will be receiving daily updates and will be informed if there are any concerns regarding your pets welfare. My forms do include treatment consent and vet information for such circumstances. I am experienced in liaising with health professionals and ensure that any concerns are relayed to you and where necessary your vet. I will support your pet to a vet if it is required. In an emergency if you can not be contacted, the emergency contact info you provide will be called. However, be assured that if nobody can be contacted I will make sure your pet still receives the care and attention they require.
